Sri Lakshmi Bhoga And Lakshmi Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple

A hillock is situated 10 miles from Tumkur District . In Krita Yuga it was known as Ukeladri, In Thretha Yuga it was known as Simhadri, In Dwapara Yuga it was known as Sidhagiri and in Kali Yuga it is known as Kari Giri. There is an interesting story how it got the name Kari Giri , In Deva Loka there were two Gandharva brothers named Devadutta and Dhananjaya. They were specialist in Music . Once they were singing and all were mesmerised by their songs, and all appreciated their singing. But Brighu Muni did not like their song and he commented that they did not have any knowledge of any Music. After hearing this comment they insulted the Brighu Muni , but Brighu Muni in turn cursed them that they will become a Mountain in Bhoo Loka .Then they begged the Brighu Muni for forgiveness and Rishi was kind enough and he modified the curse and told one will become Kari (Elephant ) and other will become Giri(Elephant) and in due course they will get Shapa Vimochana. Hence this place came to be known as KARIGIRI.

It is place blessed by Sadhu and sants, Sages like Agastya, Parashara, Durvasar,etc did penance here. It said that Sri Rama , Sita and Lakshmana stayed here for some time, to be precise the Sthala Purana says that Sri Ramachandra used to sit on a particular stone and apply Tilakam and one day he struck with with the sharp edge of his arrow and pierced the rock he was sitting and immediately Ganga come out in the form of Jala Dara and Srirama applied Tilakam using the water and the place is known as Namada Chilume Even now you can see a spring where Srirama sat and pierced the stone.

In the hillock which is known as kumbibetta sri Yoga Narasimha temple was established by Bramadeva. In front of the temple there is a Pushkarani known as Narasimha Theertham. below the Narasimha temple there is one more Pushkarani by name Guhantara Pushkarani, sunlight will not enter to this place and A Sudarshana Chakra sculptor can also be seen in this place. Brahma did padapuja to sri Narasimha in this place so, people do prokshanai of this holy water when they visit the hillock. The water used to seep from rocks and it used to look like rain is falling, Now the Sanithaym is not much there so the flow of water is also less.

It is said that Chaturmukha Brahma did Penance for Ten Thousand years then MahA Vishnu gave darshan in the form of Yoga Lakshmi Narasimha. Along with Brahma 19 other MahA Rishi's also did Pooja in the Bank of Narasimha thirtha .Even today you can see the sannidhanam of the swamy there during car festival dhwajarohana will take place at the same Spot.

Parashara MahA Rishi prayed to Lord Narasimha for Santana Prapthi here , and Lord himself was born as Parashara Maha Rishi's son. The Sostra is as follows.

" Nrusimhaya Namasthubyam , Vajra Dhamshtraya THe Namaha I
Vasudevaya Shanthaya Govindaya Namo Namaha II "

Sri KARIGIRI Hill is also known as Kusumadri, Sri Maha Vishnu Vanquished a Rakshasa named Pundrika, All Devatha's showered the Pushpa hence is also known as Kusumadri .

There is Sannidhi for Garuda Alwar and Madapalli Nachiyar

There is a beautiful image of Periya and Seriya Thiruvadi fighting a battle and Lord Rama is witnessing his two ardent devotee fighting in front of Maha Dwara of Kumbi Beta ( Beta means hill in Kannada) The sculptor cum picture is 9-10 feet height.

Below the Kumbi beta at the lower hill Bhoga Narasimha Temple. Lakshmi is having a separate Sannidhi.

They do Pooja in accordance to Pacharathra and Tantrasara Agama which is a specialty here.

In the Poobha Nakshtram in Phalnguna Month a grand Jathra takes place.

One specialty is At the time of puling the Ratha Garuda comes and hovers around the ratha.

Festival : Narasimha Jayanthi is celebrated in grand manner. Special Pooja is done on every Saturday during Shravana Month. They also celebrate Ustava on Ugadi , Karthik Pournami , Ratha Sapthami , Utra and Dhakshinayana Puniya kala

There is provision of distribution of Prasad on every Saturday by Lakshmi Narasimha Charitable Trust between 12.30 Pm to 1.30 Pm .

It will not be out of place to mention that The famous TVS Electronic Factory is situated in Tumkur District and as usual they have extended the Kainkaryam in Jeernodharanam of this two famous temple and and Bhattar's were full of praise for Sriman Gopal and Venu Srinivasan and told they often visit the temple . Bhattar's also informed that they are taking care of Kainkaryaparas salary every month and also on every Sunday T V S company distributes Prasadam to all the Bhakta's between 12.30 Pm to 1.30 Pm

The Temple Timings are Daily Morning 8.00 Am to 6.00 Pm In Yoga Narasimha (Hill) Temple and till 8.30 Pm in Bhoga Narasimha Temple
